Fumiya Tanaka will relaunch his Untitled Records label with a 12-inch from Japanese producer Mikio Kaminakamura.
Untitled Records was founded as a sublabel of Tanaka’s more well-known techno operation Torema Records in 1995. Where Torema focused on percussive techno, Untitled Records specialised in subtler sounds, releasing a string of popular deep house records under Tanaka’s Karafuto guise in 1999 and 2000 (several of those 12-inches remain highly sought-after today). The sound of the imprint was a sign of things to come: Tanaka, at the time a techno DJ, eventually turned his attention to minimal house, linking up with labels and producers like Perlon, Ricardo Villalobos and Thomas Melchior.
Mikio Kaminakamura, a former drummer from Kawasaki, supplies Untitled’s comeback release, a jacking three-tracker simply called Untitled Records 009. No exact release date has been set, but you can expect it to hit stores in the coming months.
